Diversity Hub

Diversity Hub is a leadership training organisation committed to assisting people of all backgrounds to be able to work together for a just and fair society where everyone is welcomed and valued.

Our Approach to Training

Our approach ensures every issue and every group counts, so we work on ending all areas of prejudice and discrimination simultaneously. The root of prejudicial attitudes is misinformation, lack of information about other groups, or a negative experience. Stereotypes are reduced by practical activities which demonstrate that everyone is good and no one starts out wanting to hit out and hurt others. Our inclusive approach addresses a wide range of diversity issues including: race, gender, age, class, religion, sexuality, physical ability, job and life circumstance, as we train people to be community leaders and advocates on behalf of all groups.

Our training utilises a participatory experiential approach through practical activities in large groups, small groups and pairs. We create safety to ensure participants can share their personal experience of mistreatment, prejudice and discrimination, so that they gain new insights and learn valuable information from each other whilst building unity between the different groups they belong to.

We create safety so people feel able to participate and share. However, it is a mistreatment if people are expected to share, or coerced to - so we never do it. We understand that we will never end mistreatment of groups if we mistreat people along the way. We always like to ensure people get the chance to practice new skills.
