| History
A lifelong activist and trainer specialising in equalities and diversity issues for 10 years, Val Carpenter wanted to ensure the training she delivered was actually going to assist people take individual initiative in their lives to end all prejudice and discrimination.
Over twenty years ago, long before 'multi oppression' approaches were common in England, Val brought NCBI over from the United States. She built her own team in Leicester - of which you can read more on other pages, trained others in the skills they needed to build their own NCBI teams around the country and assisted and coached them to be successful in their endeavours.
Val joined the NCBI International senior leadership team, was a member of the Board of Directors from its inception, and was involved in the development and delivery of new training programmes.
As the work in Leicester grew and developed it was clear that we needed to fully direct and manage our own organisation. The Leicester team seperated from NCBI International in December 2005 to form Diversity Hub.
